Need vs Quota

After a recent phone conversation with a friend of mine where we were talking about a new ministry at his church, I began to think on something: Is the Church filling a need, or simply meeting a quota?

People come in and out of the doors of countless church “houses” (as they are called in the deep south) every Sunday, but why? Is it because it has become a part of the routine? Are they meeting their quota for church service attendance? Or, are they being fed life changing sustenance?

Are you numbers growing because Papa is building His church? Or, because, if they gotta go somewhere they might as well go to the church with the cool music and captivating speaker? What is the point of your church?

I ask a lot of question, and most of them are rhetorical, but at least I’m asking. Are you bold enough to ask?
